LAGOS – Mudashiru Nurudeen Eniafe, the game-changing chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) LASU branch has expressed his satisfaction and sense of fulfilment in the fact that transport management and commuting has become impressively refined under his watch on the LASU road axis.
In an exclusive chat with Independentonline, Eniafe, a Master’s Degree holder from the unique School of Transport And Logistics of the prestigious Lagos State University (LASUSOTAL), expressed gratitude to God and the management of LASU first for the academic and character drilling he went through during his first and second degree programmes in the institution.
Secondly, the young, self-motivated indicator thanked his Alma Mater for believing in him enough to afford him the opportunity to prove his himself with the idea of initiating an education-propelled holistic sanitisation of the transport management and seamless commuting in his area of jurisdiction.
The young LASU-baked egghead is also grateful to his colleagues on the job who have given him unalloyed cooperation in the leadership of the new-era RTEAN in the LASU-Ojo area.
Eniafe disclosed that he has found out that education has no alternative given that it manifests in all endeavours embarked upon by the recipient.
According to him, being a university graduate at all is no mean achievement not to talk of bagging a Masters in Transport Planning from a globally envied institution like LASU.
Eniafe recalled: “When I bagged my first degree from the LASU School of Transport a few years ago, I sat down and asked myself ‘now that I am a graduate, having survived all the rigorous drilling by LASU, what can I offer to make a difference that will positively impact on society?’
“Then I remembered the harrowing hassling usually faced by students occasioned by traffic gridlock on this (LASU) axis, oftentimes leading to theft of valuables and other such ills.
“So, the idea struck me that I could initiate the process of sanitising the transport system in Lagos but beginning with the LASU environment. And thank God, here we are today.
“Today, by God’s grace, we have been able to change the face of transport unionism in Lagos. It is no more for the riff-raff but intellectuals who are conscious of their education, the citadel that baked them and, of course, the high expectations from them by society.
” I am glad to tell you that three members of our Union including my humble self have just bagged our Masters Degrees in Transport Planning.
“So, transport management is no more the old business as usual for ruffians and the never-do-well but it has become a decent engagement for the learned professionals who have been drilled, tested and found worthy in character and learning and now discharged to showcase our skills from a globally reputable citadel like the Lagos State University”; Eniafe exuded in humble pride.
He added that there is now a new lease of life for petty traders on the sideways who do not experience inhuman treatment from urchins.
“We have robust partnerships with relevant transport management agencies such as FRSC, LASTMA, VIO, Traffic Police and others”; he added
This, according to soft-spoken Eniafe, has resulted in the unprecedented sanity in motoring and comfort for commuters within his operational purview.
