Yobe Varsity Matriculates 2,495 Students For 2024/25 Academic Session

DAMATURU – The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Professor Bukar Jamri, has disclosed that the institution has admitted students into 11 out of the 12 newly approved undergraduate programmes.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor made the disclosure today 8th April, 2025 during the 2024/2025 matriculation ceremony of the University.

He said the newly commenced programmes include Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory, Radiography, Cyber Security, Information Technology and Zoology.

Others are Botany, Environmental Biology, Criminology and Security Studies, Library and Information Science as well as Environmental Standards, while LL.B Islamic Law programme is to commence next session.

Prof. Jamri noted that the University is matriculating Two Thousand Four Hundred and Ninety Five (2,495) candidates into the 2024/2025 academic session from seven (7) faculties of the University through Direct Entry and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) modes.

He stated that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni (CON), is committed to seeing that the welfare of the students is prioritised and the University has approved the renovation of student hostels.

He then called on the students to take advantage of available scholarship facilities and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) so as to complement the financial support of their parents and guardians.

In his goodwill message, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services), Prof. Mohammed Musa Lawan, has called on the students to abide by the rules and regulations governing the institution and shun all forms of social vices.

Also speaking, the Acting Registar of the University, Malam Ahmadu Garba, said the University is training the students to be the best in both character and learning so as to be good ambassadors of the institution.

In his address, the Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Sani Isa, thanked the University Management, staff and the parents and guardians of the matriculating students for their support in actualising the successful ceremony.

Meanwhile, the oath was given by Barr. Mohammed Musa Bello of the University.
