The Shuhada-e-Traffic Police Trophy Girls Basketball Tournament, organized under the banner of Firdous Ittihad and with the approval of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA), began at the International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court, Aram Bagh, Karachi, under the patronage of the Traffic Police. The tournament was officially inaugurated by chief guest SSP South Traffic Suhai Aziz.The opening ceremony was attended by Ghulam Muhammad Khan (Director Sports, Commissioner Karachi Office), Rotarian Sheikh Aqeel Ahmed, CMO Dr Nighat Aqeel, Zahid Malik, Nusrat Afzal, Zaeema Khatoon, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Suhai Aziz expressed gratitude to the organisers on behalf of herself and the Traffic Police and announced plans to organize a grand girls' basketball tournament on Independence Day. She encouraged the young athletes to not only excel in sports but also focus on their education and suggested those interested in serving the community consider joining the police force.
Three matches were decided on the first day of the tournament. In the opening match, Aram Bagh Club defeated Youth Club by 8-4 points.Anabia scored 4 points, while Atika and Amna Ashraf contributed 2 points each for the winning side. For the Youth Club, Sarah and Fabiha scored 2 points each. In the second match, Scout Club registered a dominant 22-6 victory over Karachi Youth Club. Nimra Ameen led with 10 points, Iqra Shafiq added 6, and Zara Arif contributed 4. For the losing team, Umme Hani, Sarah Ashraf, and Fabiha Tariq each scored 2 points.
In the third match, Scout Club edged past Aram Bagh Club with a narrow 4-2 win. Zara Arif scored all 4 points for the winning team, while Anabia scored 2 points for Aram Bagh.Referees and technical officials for the matches included Aamir Sharif, Ashraf Yahya, Muhammad Usman, and Zulfiqar Abbas.
The tournament opened with a special prayer offered by Ghulam Muhammad Khan for the martyred police officers, and he also extended gratitude to DIG Traffic Police Syed Pir Muhammad Shah for sponsoring the tournament.
