Recently, the U.S. organized a panel discussion in Windhoek with the theme "Fostering Shared Goals inTechnology Between Namibia and the United States."
This occasion acted as a forum where participants from governmental bodies, educational institutions, and corporate entities could share insights on enhancing cyber security measures, fostering digital advancements, and encouraging the proper management of technological practices.
Alexis Haftvani, the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, highlighted the significance of collaborations and strong digital frameworks in fostering comprehensive development.
"Through our collaboration with Namibia to enhance internet accessibility, upgrade digital infrastructure, and advocate for effective tech policies, we are fostering enduring advancement," said Haftvani.
The panel included U.S. exchange program alumni who are prominent figures in Namibia’s technological sector. They were Professor Anicia Peters, CEO of the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST); Alex Pompe, ex-Research Manager of Data for Good at META; Lameck Amugongo, a tech advocate; and Sebulon David, founder of Glowdom Technologies.
Their inputs emphasized crucial aspects including safeguarding data, fostering digital enterprise, the necessity of tailored technological policy studies, and rising issues in cyber security.
This occurrence highlighted the crucial part played by alumni networks in molding Namibia’s digital future and promoting mutual comprehension between Namibia and the U.S., facilitated by continuous professional cooperation.
