The Coles customer from Perth ordered a click-and-collect grocery shop which totalled $450.37 shortly before midnight on August 6 .
But after paying the total at the online checkout, the bill suddenly increased to $504.70 without warning.
When the shopper contacted Coles to ask what had happened, she was told that the week's deals had already changed over due to the order being processed in Australia Eastern Standards Time, which is two hours ahead of Western Australia.
She claimed that there were no warnings when she placed the order to indicate that the total amount shown on her screen was incorrect.
'I am absolutely disgusted that they have taken that extra money and that's not what I was under the impression I was going to be paying,' she wrote online.
An image of her payment screen indicated that everything was correct with the purchase, noting that she had managed to save $100 as well.
The supermarket chain Coles provided the mother with a goodwill voucher as compensation for the error.
Instead of keeping the order, she chose to get a complete refund.
"I simply find it absurd that Coles would prefer to miss out on $450 in sales instead of admitting to an error," she exclaimed angrily.
'I hate to think how many other people have been caught out because of it.'
A Coles spokesperson apologised and said it was ' investigating' Why the price displayed at checkout differed from what she actually had to pay.

The Coles website alerts customers that the deadline for weekly deals on click-and-collect orders varies across different time zones.
The cutoff time is 9:59 PM for Western Australia and at 11:22 PM for South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Other customers who heard the mother’s account responded with similar indignation, expressing their dismay that she had not been alerted on the checkout screen that her discounts were no longer applicable.
'Frankly, that's absurd,' one remarked.
'I experienced this too; I contacted them, and they issued a refund for the initial amount since it wasn’t detailed in the fine print,' someone else commented.
'A third remarked, "This is how things will remain constant if we go completely cashless."'
