A total of 170 newly admitted students at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State, under the affiliated degree programmes with the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos, have been matriculated.
The matriculation ceremony took place on Tuesday at FCE(T) for the 2024/2025 academic session. In attendance were the Vice-Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof Edoba Omoregie, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof Osamede Omorogiuwa; the Acting Provost of FCE(T), Dr Oluwatoyin Miller; other top principal officers from both institutions; and some parents of the matriculating students.
Speaking at the event, UNIBEN’s Vice-Chancellor urged the new students to remain focused and committed to their studies, alongside other legitimate activities expected of them. He cautioned them not to let their parents’ sacrifices and investment in their education go to waste.
He emphasised that FCE(T) has all the resources necessary to train them, just like their peers at the main campus in Benin City, equipping them with the requisite skills and knowledge to become positive change agents and globally competitive teachers upon graduation.
He further assured the students that the quality of training they would receive at the college and the certificates they would be issued at the end of their programmes are identical to those of their peers at the parent university in Benin City.

The Acting Provost particularly encouraged the students to set high academic and moral standards for themselves, underscoring the importance of total commitment to achieving their academic goals.
He emphasised the philosophy and values underpinning the partnership between UNIBEN and FCE(T), which aim to provide qualitative science, vocational, and technical education to the teeming youths who, in turn, will impart this knowledge to the broader society.
